A PECULIAR JOURNEY
4/27/18
'And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.' Isaiah 42:16
Every one of us has their own particular journey and road to take in this life. Many of us have had hardships and set-backs along the way, but if we listen to the voice of the Father He will gently nudge us back on the road that we are to take.
I was reminded by a dear friend that indeed the journey that we have been on now for almost a year has truly been a peculiar one. For if someone had said a few years ago that we would be traveling full-time in a travel trailer I would have said that they were crazy, and yet that is exactly what we have been doing. This space of some 33 feet has been our only home now. We have weathered through ice storms, winds, summer heat, and cold temperatures. And through it all we have learned how to find comfort in the most simplest of things.
There are times when I have looked back and have wanted to stay in a house, and yet at least for now, this is our journey. And yet we all are on a spiritual journey not unlike the children of Israel. For during the forty years in the wilderness they learned how to trust God in the midst of uncertainty. God Himself traveled with them through the cloud by day and the fire by night. He was the ever-present reminder that they were not alone in their journeys.
He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. Ex. 13:22
And so remember and know that He is still that ever-present presence with us in these journeys that we take upon this earth. Look not to the left or to the right, but keep your gaze straight ahead. Stay resolute in your stance and remain calm even in the most severe of storms. He still guides the ancient mariner upon the seas of life.
